The list of 15 senators appointed by President Ali Bongo was published on Saturday February 27. According to the latest revision of the Constitution, the Gabonese Senate must now have 67 members, ie 52 senators elected by indirect universal suffrage (by municipal and departmental councilors) and 15 others appointed by the head of state.

Jamie Spears' Lawyer Says He's Dedicated to Protecting His Daughter Britney

Jamie Spears' Lawyer Says He's Dedicated to Protecting His Daughter Britney Jamie Spears' lawyer insists that he 'has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators.'Last week, a judge ruled that Jamie and Bessemer Trust will now have equal power over the pop singer's finances. The decision came after Jamie submitted a proposed order where he argued that some of his powers were stripped away when he and Bessemer Trust became co-conservators of Britney's estate in November. In addition to giving them equal power, Jamie and Bessemer Trust were ordered to work together on an investment plan and budget proposal for the future.

Ali Bongo still rewarded two of his former collaborators at the presidential palace. They are former minister Honorine Nzet Biteghe, one of Gabon's most famous women's rights defenders, and Cyriaque Mvouranziami who was in her protocol during her first term.

Berthe Mbené Mayer, mayor of Lambaréné more than 15 years ago and who had disappeared from the political landscape, returns to business for a chair in the Senate. For each senator, Ali Bongo appointed a substitute.

As of Monday, the 15 appointed senators and the 52 other elected representatives will meet in the hemicycle to elect the new president of the Senate and his deputies. No worries for the ruling party that dominates both houses of parliament.
