(Reuters) - The Italian Ministry of Health reported 343 coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday, up from 246 the day before, while the number of new infections rose to 17,083, from 13,114 on Monday.
Italy has recorded 98,288 deaths linked to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, the second highest number of deaths in Europe after Great Britain and the seventh in the world.
The toll of contaminations in the country now stands at 2.95 million cases.
