World Jewish Man Killed in Israel Riots by Brick Thrown at Him
What Stands Behind the New Palestinian War Against Israel? | Opinion
Palestinians are now certain they will be rewarded, not punished, for their aggression. So long as this remains the Biden administration's position, we can expect the latest Palestinian war against Israel to continue. Indeed, so long as this remains the administration's policy, the danger that the Palestinian war will escalate into a regional onslaught against Israel by Iran's proxies across Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen will only increase. A resident of the Israeli city of Lod died on Monday after Arab rioters threw stones at his car, Israeli media reported.
Yigal Yehoshua, 56, was seriously injured in the night between May 11-12 when hit in the head by a brick during riots in the city south of Tel Aviv, according to Ynet. He died from his injuries at Shamir Medical Center. No arrests have yet been made in connection to his death.
News outlets Ynet and Mako identified Yehoshua as the first Jewish fatality amid a wave of communal violence between Arabs and Jews in Israel.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is exposing a deep schism in the Democratic Party
Democrats have moved left on Israel. Biden hasn’t.But President Joe Biden doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo. And that gap between him and the more progressive members of his party is becoming a visible rift as the Biden administration struggles to address the escalating conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
Yehoshua's death followed that of 32-year-old Musa Hassona, an Israeli Arab man who was shot dead during protests in Lod on May 10, according to Haaretz. Police arrested two Jewish suspects over his killing.
Haaretz reported young Arabs in Lod said Yehoshua's death was retribution for Hassona's killing.
Lod has been mired in unrest amidbetween Israel and the Palestinians. Hostilities spread following from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah, a neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
Fight Between Progressives and Biden on Israel Just Starting .
Israel has finally agreed to a cease-fire, but this month’s violence has sparked a standoff between congressional liberals and President Joe Biden that is just getting started. On Thursday, after an 11-day military campaign, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved a cease-fire after increasing pressure from the international community and, eventually, Biden. But Biden didn’t start out there. At the beginning of the week, the president made it clear he wasn’t calling for a cease-fire so much as saying he’d support one, if Israel reached that decision.
