Blinken's warning for Putin: He will answer for ransomware attacks Secretary of State Tony Blinken warned that Vladimir Putin will have to answer for the ransomware attacks that caused meat and gas prices to skyrocket.'We would prefer to have a more stable, predictable relationship with Russia. We’ve made that clear. But we’ve made equally clear that if Russia chooses to act aggressively or recklessly toward us or toward our allies and partners, we’ll respond,' Blinken told Axios' Mike Allen in an interview that aired on HBO.

US president Joe Biden and his wife Jill have said they are excited for their sit down with the Queen during their trip to the UK for the G7 summit. But the American leaders might have already breached apparent royal protocol before their Sunday tea. The couple reportedly arrived at the Eden Project reception after the Queen on Friday evening as she and other members of the Royal Family hosted world leaders during the summit. Protocol on this varies depending on the occasion.

The first president Queen Elizabeth II met with was former President Harry Truman in 1951, though she was a princess at the time and ascended to the throne the following year. The Bidens have met with other members of the royal family. In 2017, the Bidens and former President Barack Obama accompanied Prince Harry to the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada. Harry, a military veteran, founded the games, which are held in a different city every year and provide an international sporting platform for wounded and injured service members. The Queen met former President Donald Trump during his

The U.S. president and first lady Jill Biden arrived at Windsor Castle on helicopter Marine One for a military Guard of Honor and tea with the 95-year-old monarch.

However, amid the glare of English summer, the 78-year-old did not remove his dark glasses.

US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have met the Queen at Windsor Castle. The visit included a Guard of Honour and afternoon tea with the monarch. A Guard of Honour formed of the Queen ' s Company First Battalion Grenadier Guards gave a Royal Salute, and the US national anthem was played. Mr Biden accompanied the Officer Commanding the Guard of Honour, Maj James Taylor, and Maj Gen Christopher Ghika to inspect the Honour Guard, before returning to the dais to watch the military march-past.

US President Joe Biden violated royal protocol at the G7 summit by being late for a meeting with Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, the Daily Mail writes. The publication notes that according to the protocol , members of the royal family should be the last to arrive at the event. Despite the late arrival of the American president, the queen amiably communicated with the guests, including Biden . This was the first meeting between Elizabeth II and the head of the White House since he took office as head of state.

Grant Harrold, a former butler to Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, told Newsweek the president was entitled to wear his shades to the event but should have removed them at the point he greeted Elizabeth.

"If you're meeting the queen face-to-face there's no sunglasses or anything like that at all because eye contact is quite important with any introduction," said Harrold, who gives etiquette advice through his website The Royal Butler.

"It's fine for Biden to have had sunglasses on but he should have removed them when he actually met the queen," Harrold continued. "Everyone else has to, it doesn't matter who you are, even royals remove sunglasses when they meet royals. It's one of those rules I always write about in my etiquette texts. It is a breach of protocol. I get the sun might have been shining in his eyes but the queen didn't have sunglasses on. Jill, the first lady, didn't have sunglasses on."

Meanwhile, when President Joe Biden broke royal protocol during his meeting with Queen Elizabeth II on Friday, it barely got covered outside of the British tabloids, who love this sort of thing. Royal protocol is so arcane and unnecessary that even a desultory read-through of what a visit with the Windsors entails makes you understand why all that tea ended up at the bottom of Boston Harbor. That said, an American president and their entourage should endeavor to follow it whenever they’re on British soil, but we should give them a little bit of leeway if they gaffe.

Biden wore the glasses when, holding hands with the first lady, he first approached the dais in Windsor Castle's Quandrangle to greet the queen.

He also had them on while standing, hand on heart, for the U.S. national anthem, but he did take them off part way through the ceremony.

Once the formalities were over, the Bidens joined Elizabeth inside the castle for tea away from the media.

While neither side released any account of what was discussed between the public figures, a picture gave a glimpse into the decor of the 1,000-year-old castle.

The trio were photographed against a backdrop of fuchsias, artwork from the royal collection and two grandfather clocks.

Around an hour and 15 minutes after touching down in Windsor the president and first lady were back in the air and on to their next stop, Brussels, in Belgium.

At Heathrow Airport, Biden told the press Elizabeth was "very gracious." He added, "I don't think she'll be insulted, but she reminded me of my mother."
