Katherine Schwarzenegger wrapped up a week of Father's Day episodes of her Instagram show, BDA Baby (Before, During and After Baby), with an interview with her father, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
During the nearly 34-minute chat, father and daughter talked about their family life when he was an A-list movie star, and his transition to politics when he became governor of, beginning in 2003.
And it turns out the kids, and his now ex-wife Maria Shriver, were all united in their hatred of the Terminator star taking the family to Sacramento when he won the recall race for governor and his subsequent re-election that kept him in office until 2011.

The Austrian born actor and politician, 73, wasted little time in revealing he was astounded by how different all of his four children with ex-wife Maria Shriver were, despite having the same upbringing.
'Everybody had their own personalities and own characteristics,' he confessed.
'That each one of you had the same upbringing, the same attention, the same school, the same everything, and [you all] were so different. And as a parent you have to adjust to those differences and to the various different needs that each child has and then kind of go with that.'

Admitting she was right about the drastic lifestyle change, Arnold also shared about how the family was not in favor of his shift to the political world.
'First of all I think it is very important to let everyone know how much you kids hated my job,' he said, which elicited a big laugh from Katherine.
'I think you were so used to what we were doing when I was on a movie set.'
Arnold, running as a Republican candidate, became the 38th governor of California in 2003, holding the position until 2011.
He proceeded to lay out a typical day as an big time actor that included the kids being picked up from school by a driver and brought to his movie trailer, where they spent time doing homework and watching their dad do scenes from whatever film he was making at the time.
'So when you went to Sacramento, I remember you saying, "Dad I hate your job,"' the former bodybuilding champion explained, adding: 'everyone around here is running around in a stupid black suit and with a tie, and they all look so serious. It was much more fun on a movie set.'
The former Republican governor confessed he had 'a fixation about fixing the state and making the state better. And so that's why I ran from one moment to the other when there was a recall.'

The 'Wonder Woman 1984' star will produce the flick with Plan B Entertainment with Baker making her feature screenwriting debut by adapting the script. 'The Husbands' centres on an overworked mother who, while house-hunting in a suburban neighbourhood, encounters a group of high-powered women with supportive husbands.
Arnold and his then-wife Maria had long discussions about what a move to politics would mean for the family. In order to make it work, they ended up agreeing they 'would not use the children for any of the political stuff', which Arnold believes was good because Maria had gone through it as a member of the Kennedy family and niece to President John F. Kennedy.
Katherine stressed that she and her brothers and sisters 'had a very normal upbringing', despite what people might think about having two celebrity parents.
The proud dad also talked about how he wanted to raise his kids completely different from his upbringing in post World War II Austria, which he described as full of violence, alcoholism, tough love and spanking as a form of discipline.
He went on to reveal that he learned some great parenting tools by watching his ex-wife take a much more positive approach and encouraging their kids when it came to sports, academics, and other endeavors.
Despite having completely different childhoods, Arnold and Maria were united on the kids having to work hard and learn responsibility by having them do chores like do their own laundry, make their own beds, take care of their belongings and put things away after using them.

'That's why it worked so well... I think you and mom complemented each other really well with the different strengths you both came into our family with,' she confessed.
'Growing up I was always upset we had to do those things because I felt like we were the only kids in LA that had to do that. Now, as a parent myself, I always call you and tell you that I'm going to do the exact same thing that I didn't like that you guys did.'
Afterwards, Katherine took to Instagram to promote episode #32 of BDA Baby with her dad.
'I love you, Daddy! Thanks for joining BDA Baby, and especially for teaching me to turn off the lights, make my bed, and to do my laundry!' she wrote, in part, in the caption.
