Tripoli (Reuters) - The Libyan Electoral Commission rejected at first instance the candidacy of Saifting Al Islam Gaddafi for the presidential election to take place at the end of December, shows the list of candidates admitted forwarded Wednesday by a member of this commission.

Remedies are possible and the final decision belongs to Libyan Justice.

The son of former leader Mouammar Gaddafi, overthrown and killed in 2011, is part of the 25 names whose application has been rejected.

He was sentenced in 2015 for war crimes by a Tribolian court at the end of a trial at which he had appeared only in video.
