Vanished: The place where thousands of women and girls go missing without a trace.

Vanished: The place where thousands of women and girls go missing without a trace. There are moments in life that forever change the trajectory of one’s path , passion and life commitment. For me, that moment arrived in April 1995 in my home community of Sagkeeng First Nation, as I stood over the casket of my beautiful, tragically pitiful, childlike mother – dead of a heroin overdose at the age of 42 after years of violent physical and sexual abuse. In that moment, I came to fully understand and appreciate the inherent danger living as an Indigenous woman or girl in Canada with a simple revelation: my mother had no chance.

A North Carolina mother is pleading for her 3-year-old daughter to be brought home safely after the child was reported missing from her bed.

Federal and local authorities are searching for Mariah Kay Woods, whose family said she was last seen Sunday night when her mother put her to bed in their home in Jacksonville, according to ABC affiliate WCTI. An Amber Alert has been issued for the preschooler, who was described as 2-foot-9 and 30 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

“Please, bring her back,” her mother, Kristy Woods, said during a news conference, according to WSOC-TV. “I would do anything that I can — whatever you want. Just bring her home, please, safe and sound.

Missing 4yo girl likely with mother: AFP The public is being urged to help locate a four-year-old girl, Alia Bugsby Goble, who went missing in April and may be with her mother.Alia Bugsby Gorge is likely with her 43-year-old mother Tarryn Leigh Corlet, said Australian Federal Police on Tuesday as it made a public appeal.

“She’s my baby,” Woods said. “She’s my everything.”

Officials with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Woods reported her daughter missing about 6 a.m. Monday and asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said authorities are “working everything that can be worked to find this little girl.”

“We don’t know what happened,” he said, according to WCTI. “It’s entirely premature to try to determine what happened.”

In France, there is no minimum age of consent for sex—for now

In France, there is no minimum age of consent for sex—for now  As a campaign to crack down on sexual harassment intensifies, France is considering doing something long ago adopted in other Western nations: setting a minimum age of consent for having sex. In recent court cases, judges refused to prosecute men for having sex with minor children because there was no proof of coercion. “We want the irrefutable presumption that a minor cannot agree to engage in sex with an adult,” said Catherine Brault, a lawyer who defends child victims in Paris.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office could not immediately be reached for comment on the case Tuesday morning, and the FBI said it could not comment on the investigation.

Mariah’s grandmother Anne Edwards said the child wears braces on her legs and would probably not make it far on her own.

Edwards also said she does not believe Mariah would have gone with someone she did not know. “She’s a sweet child, but she’s shy with strangers. So, she wouldn’t just go with a stranger,” the grandmother said, according to WSOC-TV.

Woods, Mariah’s mother, called her daughter an “angel,” describing the child as “goofy,” “outgoing” and “talkative.”

“Just to be able to touch her and hold her and not let her go again,” the mother told reporters through tears, “I’d give anything.”

Mozilla and Yahoo sue each other over default search engine deal .
It all comes down to one problematic contract clause made in 2014.Back in 2014 Mozilla and Yahoo struck a deal that would see Yahoo act as the default search engine in Firefox through 2019. But now, two years early, Firefox has reneged on the agreement, opting for Google instead. This seems like a shady thing to do, which is why Yahoo's parent company Oath -- which was created when owner Verizon merged Yahoo and Aol -- has filed a complaint, alleging the agreement has been terminated incorrectly.
