How Secure Is Your Data When It’s Stored In The Cloud?

How Secure Is Your Data When It’s Stored In The Cloud? Storing data in the cloud is convenient, but how secure is it? And what are users' options for stepping up their data security? As cloud storage becomes more common, data security is an increasing concern. Companies and schools have been increasing their use of services like Google Drive for some time, and lots of individual users also store files on Dropbox, Box, Amazon Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and the like. They’re no doubt concerned about keeping their information private – and millions more users might store data online if they were more certain of its security.

"One possible hypothesis is that of a leak coming from an incident during an operation involving radioactive fuel cooled for around two years in Mayak complex, which is in the area between the Volga and the Urals," France's Institute for Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) said.

Microsoft is helping developers make cloud-connected games

Microsoft is helping developers make cloud-connected games Microsoft has acquired PlayFab, a game development startup that offloads the burdens associated with cloud-connected gaming for developers, allowing them to focus squarely on creating games. Kareem Choudhry, vice president of gaming at Microsoft, noted in a blog post that more than 1 billion people are gaming, and as such the industry is moving into the cloud, largely because it improves security and gives gamers easier access to the multibillion-dollar gaming market. But this brings additional challenges for developers, who are then expected to provide extra game content -- such as tournaments and analytics -- long after a game has launched.

European monitoring stations began detecting increased levels of the Ruthenium-106 isotope in the atmosphere in late September.

Russian authorities said they were not aware of any accident on their territory.

The IRSN had said at the time it believed the radiation came from the area between the Volga river and the Ural mountains and that it suspected a leak from a nuclear fuel treatment site rather than an accident in a nuclear reactor.

It said the radiation had not been harmful to public health or the environment.

Russia has set up an international commission of experts to investigate the matter.
