"Go back to China," the woman named Tashia James is alleged to have said to an Asian woman on the train in Toronto, Canada, before realising that she had been filming the ordeal.

A video posted by the New York Post shows Ms James running through the train with the Asian woman's phone, after allegedly stealing it to delete the footage.

"I just want her to delete the video of me," Ms James says as she struggles against the Asian woman who apprehended her as she tried to escape.

"No! You're wrong, you're racist and you're wrong," says a fellow train passenger who started filming the incident.

Ms James eventually got hold of the phone and ran off with it, jumping off the train as it stopped at a station. But she later turned herself in to local authorities.

She now faces charges of robbery and failure to comply with probation, New York Post reports.
