Check out this absolutely amazing '59 El Camino we spotted at SEMA in Las Vegas. There was always such a crowd around the car, it was difficult to shoot

We're fairly sure alcohol was involved heavily in the creation of this whacked-out 1959 El Camino. Yep, what lays before you bares only little dimension resemblance to the big-fin Elky, but that what it was before welders, cutoff wheels, and a whole lot of imagination went to work. Almost like some Hot Wheels die-cast model that was never quite finished, this '59 has a surreal presence.

But underneath the half-finished welds and layers of patina lies an impressive stack of parts. The mill is a 400 Dart small-block topped with a 6-71 BDS blower. Inside, there's a lightweight Callies crank and the requisite forged blower pistons. A combo good for a stated 800 hp! The small-block is mated to a Monster 700R4 trans coupled to a Strand Dana 60 rear, and it all sits on a custom chassis, which is quite the understatement. Rolling stock consists of American Racing Wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson rubber and the ride is slowed down via Wilwood binders. In an ocean of ber-polished show rides, this ratty '59 was a real eye-catcher.
