Aston Martin has revealed it is working on a mid-engine hypercar that will be sold alongside the Valkyrie starting in 2021 and compete with the LaFerrari and McLaren P1.

As with the Valkyrie, Aston Martin is collaborating with Red Bull Racing to develop the new car, according to Autocar.

Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer said the new model is known internally as "brother of the Valkyrie," and the suggestion is that while the two may share carbon fibre and aluminum structural elements, the new hyper hybrid will likely slot in below the Valkyrie, with a V8 to be paired with a battery pack and electric motors to enhance performance.

The Valkyrie derives its 1,130 hp from electric power working in concert with a naturally aspirated V12.

With the brother of the Valkyrie set to take on those hybrids from Ferrari and McLaren, Aston says it is also working on a more conventional -- and less expensive -- sports car to go up against the Ferrari 488.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Honda Civic CRX .
I'm a big fan of the first-generation Honda CRX, as well as all members of the third-generation Civic family, having owned quite a few of the gas-sipping two-seaters. These cars rusted to nothingness generations ago in the Northeast and Midwest, but you'll still find them in the warm, dry parts of the country.
