2018 Infiniti QX80 Revealed: Second Time's the Charm for This Giant SUV

2018 Infiniti QX80 Revealed: Second Time's the Charm for This Giant SUV 2018 Infiniti QX80 Revealed: Second Time's the Charm for This Giant SUVThe changes were previewed by the QX80 Monograph concept at the 2017 New York auto show last spring. Perhaps the most important update is that the front end now looks as if it actually matches the rest of the vehicle. (The doors, glass, and roof all remain common to the Nissan Patrol/Armada SUV.) The outgoing model’s fussy, vaguely Kenworth-like visage is replaced by a taller, more cohesive design with a more prominent vertical grille that mimics that of the Q60 coupe. Below it sits a broader lower air intake, while the headlamps have been redesigned and repositioned much higher than before.

Infiniti has just revealed pricing for the refreshed 2018 QX80 full-size SUV. It has a new look, a more upscale interior, and a price increase of $1,700.

Infiniti Flagship Sedan Concept Confirmed For Detroit Debut

Infiniti Flagship Sedan Concept Confirmed For Detroit Debut An electric sports car is rumored, too. With 2018 just around the corner, automakers like Infiniti are already prepping concept vehicles and production cars alike for display at the Detroit Auto Show. Already it’s been rumored that the Japanese marque will show off a performance EV concept when doors open to the Cobo Center in January, but now reports suggest that a second flagship sedan could also be on display.

The QX80 is the biggest Infiniti. It offers big space, big power, and, now, bigger luxury than before. Infiniti has added new seat materials, with new detailed stitching, quilting, and contrast stitching. The rest of the interior panels have been similarly upgraded, and feature a new coating that resists stains and dyes from other fabrics.

Rear-seat screens are up an inch to 8.0-inch models. That entertainment system has new HDMI inputs as well.

The QX80 has been made quieter inside. Thicker, more dense carpets, added soundproofing in the dash, and revised materials in the cargo area all help isolate the inside from the outside.

Most luxurious of all, the front seat cupholders can now both hold a 1,300 mL drink cup. Last year one side held 1,300 and the other side a mere 1,000 mL.

Infiniti Reveals Bolder, Quieter QX80

Infiniti Reveals Bolder, Quieter QX80 Infiniti has just revealed their biggest and best. Well, biggest and priciest anyway. Infiniti has just revealed their biggest and best. Well, biggest and priciest anyway. The QX80 is the brand's mammoth luxury SUV and it gets a new nose with some new colours and an upgraded interior.

Infiniti has also updated the QX80's active safety features. It offers lane departure warnings, radar cruise, and autonomous braking. The QX80 has a new rear view mirror-mounted screen for the rear camera system.

Under the hood, the QX80's 5.6L 400 hp V8 remains unchanged, backed by a seven-speed automatic. In front of that, though, there are extensive sheetmetal changes. The new headlights have been moved higher into the prominent fenders. Previously they were mounted low and somewhat awkwardly in the nose. Revised fog lights complete the look in the nose. In the rear, new taillights and a new chrome strip in the tailgate complete the look.

The 2018 QX80 is on sale now.

Infiniti Suggests Next Q50, Q60, Q70 Will Lose RWD Platform .
The trio is expected to get a standard all-wheel-drive layout with a rear-biased setup. Nissan’s premium brand Infiniti is getting ready to embrace a new era by switching to a different platform with electrification in mind and standard all-wheel drive. However, it will take a while before that will happen as the company’s product strategy vice-president, Francois Bancon, told GoAuto that new-gen models will not arrive before 2021. Why? Because the architecture won’t be ready until then.
