On Tuesday Microsoft published the Windows 11 2022 Update and started with the rollout. Now there is the first upgrade lock, the cause of this is an outdated Intel driver who can provide a blues screen.

is affected by Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller in version 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152, this can be checked either in the device manager or in the properties of the intcaudiobus.sys file. The bluescreen also only occurs on devices in which an Intel Core processor of the 11th generation is installed.

To prevent the problem, Microsoft has activated an "Safeguard Hold" , which means that the Windows 11 2022 update is not offered via Windows Update. With manual installation of the update, however, you run the risk of being caught.

The solution is easy in this case, because there is already an updated driver. From versions 10.30.00.5714 and 10.29.00.5714 or higher, the compatibility is ensured with the Windows 11 2022 update.

After updating the driver, the Windows 11 2022 Update does not automatically appear in Windows Update. On the one hand, the server -side locks are only canceled after up to 24 hours, on the other hand, the rollout runs as a whole with the handbrake, which means that only a certain number of systems are updated in this way every day.
