Cooking with Olive Oil Decreases Risk of Deadly Diseases, Says New Study
New research proves olive oil to be a nutritional powerhouse compared to other fatty substances like margarine, butter, and mayonnaise.The study used two cohorts of over 92,000 men and women in the United States who were free of cardiovascular disease or cancer over a 28-year period. After factoring in some of the deaths that occurred from these cohorts, the study concluded from the current participants with high olive oil consumption (at least half a tablespoons a day, or up to 7 grams) was associated with a lower all-cause mortality risk when compared to those who rarely consumed olive oil.

The solid oil can’t necessarily be composted (Lady recommends checking with your local municipality), so it’s likely to end up in a landfill anyway. That means you should try to(at least once, maybe more) and . But when it does come time to get rid of your cooking fat, FryAway is still the lesser of two evils: When oil is poured back into a plastic bottle or jar and sent to a landfill, it will take centuries to decompose. On its own, however, vegetable oil takes 28 days to decompose, says Lady.
Coincidentally, that’s about the amount of time it takes for the smell of frying to dissipate from my apartment. Time for!
