Boot Cooper from Tory caucus over comments on online hate: Liberal MP

Boot Cooper from Tory caucus over comments on online hate: Liberal MP OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer should eject colleague Michael Cooper from the Tory caucus over things the MP said about online hate in a parliamentary hearing last week, says a Liberal MP.

OTTAWA — A committee of MPs who conducted a probe into bus passenger safety in Canada has decided not to call for seat belts to be installed in Canadian school buses, urging instead the need for further study.

Doctor 'cautioned' after boy receives wrong vaccine twice at Cambridge clinic

Doctor 'cautioned' after boy receives wrong vaccine twice at Cambridge clinic A family doctor has been cautioned by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario after a boy was given the wrong vaccine twice at a walk-in clinic in Cambridge, Ont. According to a decision by the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, the boy and his mother attended First Line Walk-In Clinic on Dec. 15, 2017 to receive a vaccine for meningitis. The doctor who saw the boy administered the Menjucate C vaccine instead of the Men C ACYW135 vaccine. The boy and his mother later returned to the clinic on Jan. 20, 2018, to receive the correct vaccine and were seen by a different doctor.

The House of Commons transportation committee launched an investigation into bus safety, including school buses, following the deadly Humboldt Broncos crash in Saskatchewan that killed 16 people and injured 13 others.

The committee's final report included a number of recommendations to beef up safety requirements for passenger buses, including motor coaches and transit buses.

But the committee says conflicting evidence from experts about seat belts on school buses points to the need for further study.

The MPs say school bus seat belts are neither a panacea nor the only solution to increasing school bus safety while acknowledging they do prevent certain types of injuries.

Gary Lillico, a school bus driver in British Columbia who has been pushing for seat belts in school buses, says he is disappointed MPs are pushing this aside despite the ample evidence they heard.
