Dan Hicks — better known as Sailor Dan — is well-known throughout the city for his infamous sailboat drawing that sells for a sketch. He was born and raised in Saskatoon and has no intentions of ever leaving the city. My friend Daryl and I tracked him down to talk about the city he calls home.

Foul play is not suspected nor is an overdose of any kind, Busse said in an email.

The provincial coroner is investigating the death of Hicks, as he was in custody.

Hicks was known around Saskatoon for selling his sketches of ships on the streets.
