An Ottawa woman is facing a charge of fraud over $5,000 after police say their investigation revealed that she made a total 106 false health insurance claims.

Mona Belanger, 52, is to appear in court July 15.

Ottawa woman charged with filing 106 false health insurance claims © File Photo Ottawa police HQ Belanger was arrested in June after an investigation by the city police’s organized fraud unit that began in late 2018 with a complaint from an unnamed insurance company.

Police said that the claims were made via an online portal for amounts ranging from $25 to $200 between April 2014 and March 2017.
