Police make arrest in connection with sex assault incident in elevator Toronto have police arrested one of two men suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in the stairwell of a downtown condominium in the Bathurst Street and King Street West area early Wednesday morning. Police say a 19-year-old woman entered the elevator around 12:45 a.m. when two men entered behind her, pulled a gun on her and robbed her of her cellphone. The woman was then "violently dragged" out of the elevator, according to police, and sexually assaulted in a stairwell nearby. Both men then went to the underground parking garage and fled in a vehicle.

A cab driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a female passenger in West Vancouver . According to West Vancouver police, the victim was sitting in a taxi and waiting for a friend on the 100-block of Whonoak Road in the early morning of Jan. 2 when the assault allegedly happened.

Police announced a fresh charge of sexual assault against a Halifax taxi driver Monday, as the Officers arrested the driver without incident that afternoon. The accused, who has not been named, was charged with sexual assault and released pending an appearance at Halifax provincial court.

Gagandeep Singh Sidhu, 37, is facing one count of sexual assault for an incident that occurred in May.

Kelowna RCMP says they received reports from a woman who claims she was taking a cab during the early hours of May 26 when she was assaulted by her driver.

"Police were told that the alleged victim was outside the taxi cab at her final destination when the alleged assault took place," said Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.

He says the female passenger was not injured, and two days later, she alerted police to what had happened.

Mounties arrested Sidhu on May 30. At the time, he surrendered his chauffeur's permit and officers seized it.

He was later released on strict conditions pending a first court appearance on July 4.

Sidhu is scheduled to appear again at the Kelowna Law Courts on Thursday.
