«» New Details on Montco Pediatrician Facing Child Porn Charges . A pediatrician from northwest Montgomery County was charged with allegedly possessing several images of child pornography on a cell phone that belonged to his medical practice, authorities said Wednesday.

ICE Acting Sgt. Dave Knight said the charges relate to an incident that happened in April where a video was uploaded via a social media app. Police wouldn’t say what application was used.

“The video depicted a seven-year-old girl being sexually assaulted by an adult male,” he said on Wednesday, noting he didn’t have any information to believe the male in the video was Al-Naami. “He was not known to police at the time of the arrest.”

Knight said ICE was first tipped off by the RCMP’s national child exploitation information centre in July but at that point, the identity of the suspect wasn’t known. Over the course of a few weeks, ICE narrowed the search to an Edmonton residence and eventually one individual.

Al-Naami has practiced medicine in Alberta since roughly 2012 and has worked both in Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

Edmonton . Guelph. Halifax. 26: Police have arrested 72-year-old Doctor William Vitale of Halifax who is now facing child pornography charges .

HALIFAX — An elderly pediatrician is facing child pornography charges after a raid on a Halifax home Friday morning. Halifax police said Dr. William Richard Vitale, 72, was arrested around 6:25 a.m. at a house in the 400 block of St. Margarets Bay Road where officers seized computer equipment.

Knight said at the moment there’s no information to suggest any of the offences were committed against children under Al-Naami’s care.

Al-Naami, who is originally from Palestine, is listed as a doctor with Bright Futures Clinic in the city’s north end. He previously worked in Fort McMurray but left in protest in January 2017 over the hospital’s on-call system. Al-Naami is also listed as a clinical lecturer with the University of Alberta.

Al-Naami was released from custody on a number of court-imposed conditions including no contact with anyone under the age of 16 and not to continue employment as a pediatrician, involving a position of trust to people under 16.

His next court appearance is on Sept. 5 in Leduc.

Jessica McPhee, a spokesperson for College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, said the CPSA has served Al-Naami with an undertaking to voluntarily withdraw from his medical practice for the duration of the criminal investigation.

If Al-Naami refuses, McPhee said the CPSA will look to place a chaperone condition on him for all his patient visits with mandatory signage required in the medical office. Al-Naami has up to four days to decide.

The CPSA could also move to suspend his practice permit for the duration of the investigations.

“We certainly would suggest parents work with their family physicians to find a pediatrician that they can bring their children to,” McPhee said.

ICE is encouraging anyone with information about this case to come forward and contact police or cybertip.ca.
