There is no threat to public safety after the bodies of three people, all believed to be related, were found at a home near Mallorytown on Friday morning, police said.

The three bodies “of varying age” were discovered when police were called to the house on County Road 5 in Front of Yonge Township, about 100 kilometres south of Ottawa. One was found outside the residence, with two more inside, police added.

It was believed that the incident was “isolated,” and it was under investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch, Forensic Identification Services Unit and officers from the OPP’s Leeds County detachment.

Despite those assurances from police, neighbour Carole Allman, who lives directly across from the road from the house, said she was disturbed by the news.

“I’m kind of freaked out … actually, I’m very freaked out,” she said.

Allman said police knocked her door around 9 a.m. to ask if she knew an elderly couple who lived across the street.

She said she didn’t know them, but added that wasn’t unusual for the area.

“Everybody is quiet around here,” Allman said.

Post mortems will be needed to determine the cause of the deaths, police said Friday.

The bodies of three infants have been found in a filthy house where four other children were removed by authorities last month, a Massachusetts prosecutor has said. The state children protection authorities said on Thursday that the children who had been living at the home were in state custody.
