Winter hit back at the 6ix with a vengeance on Monday morning, and it's causing quite a few issues over at Toronto Pearson International Airport. According to Pearson’s website, a significant number of flight delays and cancellations are being reported as heavy snowfall continues to sweep its way across southern Ontario on Monday, November 11, 2019. Pearson is warning those traveling to check their website to ensure their flight hasn’t been changed.

“We’re expecting winter weather for Southern Ontario, with snow & rain in the forecast this evening into tomorrow. Some flight delays are possible,” Pearson Airport tweeted out on Sunday night.

“Operations are running well this morning, but winter weather is in the forecast for the Toronto area. If you’re traveling today, check your flight status with your airline,” an update read this morning.

An American Airlines flight to Chicago and an Air Canada flight to Windsor were amongst several other canceled flights this morning.

According to the Pearson website, both departures and arrivals are being affected by the storm.

Environment Canada issued a winter weather advisory for the Peel Region on Sunday, November 10, 2019, warning that the area could receive anywhere from 10 to 15 cm of snow on Monday.

The advisory noted that the snowfall was the result of a low-pressure system, which is expected to track south of the lower Great Lakes.

Despite the heavy snowfall, schools across Peel remain open, and buses continue to operate for both the Peel District School Board and Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board.

Residents are being advised to check each board’s website to keep updated on any future closures or bus cancellations.

While many flights are already canceled and delayed, the snow is predicted to start with flurries before building up later in the day.

This means, that those who had travel plans this Monday should check their flight status as more flights may get canceled as the weather worsens.

"This is not your typical November snowfall, which usually melts quickly, as Tuesday and Wednesday will look and feel like January with record cold temperatures expected," cautioned Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

Hundreds of trips cancelled as Metro bus overtime ban enters second day .
Delays and trip cancellations continued across Metro Vancouver’s bus system on Monday as drivers refused to work overtime for a second day, as the transit workers’ strike entered its third week. Drivers first turned down overtime on Friday, which led to the cancellation of about five per cent of bus runs, with trips cancelled across Metro, with the city of Vancouver hardest hit. Hundreds of bus trip cancellations were listed under TransLink’s service alerts on Monday morning, however it’s unclear how many of them were directly related to the strike.
