Funding confirmed for flood-prevention projects in Edmonton, northern Alberta
The provincial government will put $5 million toward protecting the city’s water treatment facilities from high flows on the North Saskatchewan River. The Edmonton projects will relocate critical equipment above predicted flood levels so the Rossdale and E.L. Smith facilities, which provide drinking water to more than one million people throughout the region, can continue operating safely during a flood event, according to a government news release. Funding for these projects is provided through the Alberta Community Resilience Program.

Fog advisories issued for parts of central, northern Alberta
A fog advisory was issued for some areas in central and northern Alberta on Tuesday as Environment Canada warned of the potential for "near-zero visibility" at times."Fog has formed in the Grande Prairie and Whitecourt-Edson regions and is expected to persist until Wednesday morning," the weather agency said on its website. "This advisory may be expanded to surrounding areas.

As for the expected winter conditions, it's looking more likely that regions near Hudson Bay will have a cooler winter, especially when compared with previous winters in northern Canada.
