Man charged with impaired driving in Markham New Year’s Eve crash that left 1 deadInvestigators said that around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday a police officer began following a white Hyundai Veloster that drove past her near Major Mackenzie Drive East and Kennedy Road in Markham.
QUEBEC — Two teens have died in a car crash southwest of Quebec City.
The accident happened late Thursday on an icy stretch of highway in the Lotbiniere region near the provincial capital.
Quebec provincial police say the driver of a car heading west on Highway 218 lost control in a curve and struck an oncoming vehicle around 11 p.m.
The two occupants of the car that lost control died in the crash while the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
Police say the victims, a boy and a girl both 17, were from Thetford Mines, Que.
The accident took place between St-Lambert-de-Lauzon and St-Gilles and police say the roadway was icy at the time of impact.

Iran called on Canada on Thursday to share its information with Tehran about the Ukrainian plane after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Ottawa had intelligence indicating it was hit by an Iranian missile. "We are calling on the Canadian Prime Minister and any other government that has information about the crash to hand it over to the investigation committee in Iran," Abbas Mousavi was quoted as saying by state news agency IRNA.
