  Skier rescued after being caught for 45 minutes in avalanche in Alberta A skier was flown by helicopter in life-threatening condition to Calgary after she was caught in an avalanche in Banff National Park. STARS Air Ambulance spokesman Mark Oddan says in an email that the 32-year-old woman was in the Mount Hector area north of Lake Louise when the slide occurred Friday. Oddan says their helicopter crew was told she was under the snow for approximately 45 minutes and that friends got her out. He says another chopper operated by Alpine Helicopter took the woman from the scene, and the STARS helicopter then picked her up at the Banff Wardens office.

Calgary police say they are investigating a random sexual assault that occurred in a woman’s bedroom in the southwest community of Canyon Meadows.

In a news release late Saturday night, police said sometime between 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 and 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, a woman woke up in her bed and found a strange man in her bedroom at her home on Canfield Crescent S.W.

According to the release the man sexually assaulted the woman and then fled the scene.

The man is described as having a moustache and short, dark hair.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police are searching for a man who broke into a home and got into bed with a woman .

Police are hoping to locate a vehicle that was in the area prior to the alleged assault. It is described as a dark blue sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, with “a very clean exterior.” They do not know if the vehicle is related to the incident.

Officials are also asking anyone in the area with CCTV to check their recordings during that timeframe in case they have captured anything suspicious, or have images of a person or vehicle matching the above descriptions.

Toronto police say a young woman attacked on the York University campus on Wednesday was stabbed and shot. The woman, 23, remains in hospital in life-threatening condition.In a news release on Saturday, police said they initially believed the woman was beaten and stabbed, but after an investigation, police now say the woman was also wounded by gunfire. Police said the incident began when the woman was walking on a pathway to York University in the area of Leitch Avenue and Assiniboine Road, near Finch Avenue West and Keele Street, on Wednesday night.
