Nexii Building Solutions Inc., a Canadian green building and construction technology company, announced Tuesday that Robertson has been hired as its executive vice-president of strategy and partnerships.

In a statement, Robertson said he is focusing his efforts on the climate crisis because at buildings are a large source of climate pollution.

Vancouver ’s former mayor has got himself a new job . Gregor Robertson has been named the global ambassador for the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, an organization that unites more than 9,200 participating cities and partners in the fight against climate change.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in October’s municipal election. Robertson , a three-term mayor who first elected in 2008, said in a Facebook post that he is stepping aside to make space for new leaders.

“That’s why when Nexii — the creators of new breakthrough green building technologies — asked me to join their team, I didn’t hesitate. I’m proud to be part of a Canadian company with significant potential to make a huge positive impact on the environment and communities globally,” he said, in a statement released by Nexii.

The CEO of Vancouver-based Nexii, Stephen Sidwell, said they value Robertson’s leadership and that he brings “a unique understanding of how cities, developers, and construction companies can work together to provide more sustainable buildings.”

Robertson was mayor of Vancouver for a decade before announcing in January 2018 that he would not seek re-election.
