On Jan. 31, health officials reported that a woman in her 20s had returned from Wuhan, China, the epicentre of the viral outbreak. The woman was at first asymptomatic when she arrived on Jan. 23, officials said, however she began to exhibit symptoms of the illness the next day and went to the hospital.

B.C. health officials Health officials said Friday that a fifth presumptive cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in British Columbia.

Provincial health officer Bonnie Henry said the newest patient is a woman in her 30s who lives within the Interior Health Region.

The woman recently returned from Shanghai, China.

Henry says the woman is in isolation at home and in good condition.

The woman was tested for the disease, named COVID-19, on Tuesday, and the results came back positive on Thursday.

It will remain a presumptive case until the test results are confirmed at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg within 48 hours. If confirmed, it would be the fifth case of coronavirus in B.C.

Airlift now en route to Wuhan to repatriate 211 Canadians .
A chartered aircraft has departed Hanoi, Vietnam and is en route to repatriate Canadians stuck in the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak. An estimated 211 Canadians are expected to board the flight from Wuhan, China later today, after a one-day delay due to bad weather conditions in Hanoi.Before boarding the aircraft, passengers must undergo multiple layers of screening by Chinese and Canadian authorities. Anyone who shows any symptoms of illness will not be permitted to board.National defence and public health officials will be on board, and will take steps to isolate any person who becomes ill during the flight.
