A major fire broke out in Lindoso National Park in northern Portugal, not far from the Spanish border. As Portuguese and Spanish firefighters battle the blazes, a seaplane has crashed in a "mountainous area" in the province of Ourense. According to local media, one of the two occupants was killed, and the second is seriously injured.

Canadair-type aircraft crashed into an uninhabited mountainous area after a water loading maneuver, explained to the AFP Commander Pedro Araujo, of the National Civil Protection Authority.

This Portuguese aircraft was fighting a fire that broke out at dawn on Saturday in the town of Lindoso, in the heart of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, which borders the Spanish region of Galicia.

More than a hundred Portuguese firefighters were still mobilized on this blaze in order to overcome the flames.
