Dax recovers a little from the previous day's loss

The German stock market recovered somewhat on Tuesday from the losses it had suffered at the beginning of the week. The leading index Dax advanced by 0.83 percent to 12,646.52 points in early trading. The day before, the stock market barometer had slipped by more than 4 percent for fear of investors of a new wave of corona infections.

I thought that this would be a good challenge to use DAX with a calculated column. I most certainly could do this using the Power Query Editor and M, but I always like to see if it is possible when it is a smaller and easier DAX calculation. Below is the DAX to get the Start date for the following week .

The CALENDAR DAX function generates a table with a list of dates from Jan 1 to Dec 31 of 2017. This variable allows you to define the start day of the week . If you want to be able to handle the additional filter context of the visual, you can pick up the visual filter context using variables (VAR).

The DAX enters Monday trading with a strong gain of 1.64 percent at 12,673.73 points. The guidelines from the USA have a supportive effect: the stock exchanges on Wall Street had risen sharply in late trading on Friday, once again driven by the large technology stocks.

Corona remains the dominant topic

According to stock exchanges, the increasing number of corona infections should curb investors' willingness to buy. The DAX had already broken off an initial attempt at stabilization in the course of trading on Friday. The past week on the stock exchange was disappointing with the DAX falling by almost five percent, and the leading index was now at its lowest level since the end of July.

DAX clings to profits - "Bargain hunters on the prowl"

DAX clings to profits - In the middle of the week, the German benchmark index is clearly in the profit zone. © Provided by Finanz.net Andrew Burton / Getty Images The DAX showed a premium of 1.13 percent to 12,737.32 points at the start of the bell. The German benchmark index can expand its profits even further. In the meantime, he made the jump over the 12,800 point mark. It currently gains 1.35 percent to 12,764.67 units.

The trick to writing complex DAX formulas is to break the problem into pieces and solve each piece of the puzzle one step at a time. I really like the variable approach, it’s so much clearer not just when learning, but when going back and trying to troubleshoot later when something inevitably changes.

In this country there is currently a debate about renewed restrictions due to the virus crisis. There is discussion, for example, about the requirement to wear a mask in public places. Worrying news also comes from Europe and the rest of the world: Corona hotspot Spain was the first country in Western Europe to break the 700,000 registered infections mark. The Israeli government tightened lockdown measures in the country to prevent the virus from spreading further.

Investor sentiment remains tense

"The nervousness of market participants can be seen in the increased price fluctuations," wrote analyst Martin Utschneider in a market commentary. The nervousness resulted from the tense political situation in the USA and from an impending second wave of corona infections in autumn. The situation of the DAX remains a "tight box".

However, this did not affect the takeover fantasies on the stock exchange.

Let us show you the DAX , which is still fighting on the crucial long-term support of 8200 points and on this support, we are drawing an inverse head and shoulders pattern. We all know that this formation is a very powerful one but it gives a buy signal only after the breakout of the neckline.
