Increase in contacts behind Quebec’s rapid COVID-19 spread

It’s not the number of COVID-19 cases in one setting versus another that the public should focus on, experts say, but rather the number of contacts that each of us is making.

“The motor of an epidemic is the number of contacts that people have with each other,” said Gaston De Serres, chief physician of the scientific immunization group at the Institut national de santé publique du Québec.

Quebec’s muddled message on COVID-19 sparks confusion

Premier François Legault said he’s counting on Quebecers to exercise common sense on what they can and cannot do outside their homes in a red zone during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Legault and Quebec’s director of public health, Horacio Arruda, struggled Thursday to clarify some of the more obscure rules on outdoor gatherings put on the table Wednesday to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Trump tests positive for COVID-19

President Donald Trump said on Friday he and his wife Melania had tested positive for COVID-19 and were going into quarantine, upending the race for the White House.

“We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” the president said in a tweet early on Friday morning.
