Mask Singer: how did production and TF1 adapt to the health crisis? (VIDEO)
© Christophe Chevalin / TF1 Mask Singer: how did production and TF1 adapt to the health crisis? (VIDEO) You got it right from watching Season 1: Mask Singer is one of the most complicated shows to make. Quite simply because the production must take a considerable number of steps to keep the names of disguised personalities secret. This puzzle turned into a production nightmare when the pandemic broke out.
Eliminated at the end of the second premium of "Mask Singer" on TF1, Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff hid behind the costumes of the parrots. Interview…
Did you watch season 1 of Mask Singer last year?
Grichka Bogdanoff: Yes, we had watched. And we were very attracted by the graphic side of this show, which is at a crossroads between three directions: the construction of very neat sets, with beautiful materials and beautiful lights; adding special effects when imaging and, of course, masks. So we were very appreciative of the performance in terms of TV, both in terms of the game and aesthetics. It’s a "standard" show, but it quickly exceeds standards.

© TF1 Mask Singer: which celebrity was hiding under the wolf and left the show on October 17th? The identity of the star dressed as a wolf surprised everyone on the set of Mask Singer at the end of the program broadcast this Saturday, October 17 on TF1. This Saturday, October 17, TF1 offered the first issue of season 2 of Mask Singer , this spectacular tele-hook, in which twelve celebrities compete in music and hidden under of incredible costumes.
So you didn't hesitate to say yes to this second season?
Grichka: Not at all! We were delighted with the invitation, and we accepted straight away. In addition, it matches our temperament. Because although we are serious in our science shows - when we talk about rigorous and deep things such as the big bang - we quickly give way to playful drift when we have the opportunity. This is exactly what happened with this show.
Igor Bogdanoff: It’s above all a way for us to meet our old passions. We discovered music very early on, through the guitar, which we learned to play when we were 13 or 14 years old. We have never left this excursion into music, we were particularly interested in flamenco. That's one of the reasons we got pretty good on the song Bamboleo. It was also a reunion with ourselves

Not too complicated to manage the song and dance aspect?
Igor: Not at all. For the vocals, we worked with Pierre and Jean, who are the masters of the studio. It went very well, as they were both advisers, guides and great professionals. We really felt confident with them. As far as the choreography goes, it's a different story, because we hadn't rehearsed anything. We improvised (laughs)
Grichka: I'm going to play on words: since our parrots were called Coco, it was a "cocoreography".
Did you have the choice of your costume?
Igor: No. It was the production that offered us these parrot costumes and we immediately accepted. First of all because the first sketches that were submitted to us were magnificent, and secondly because it corresponded to an exoticism that is ours.
Wasn't it too complicated to move around in this disguise?

Grichka: It was incredibly complicated, you can tell! The main difficulty was getting around, because we could hardly see anything. So we were very disoriented, groping our way like cartoon creatures. In addition, it was a terrifying heat in these costumes, we breathe very badly. So it was very sporty to wear these costumes, while singing and dancing.
Did you tell some of your relatives?
Igor: No, never! For us, the game was to keep the most absolute secrecy around our participation. We wanted everyone - our friends and viewers alike - to benefit from the surprise effect. And it's true that it worked, because all our relatives were very surprised. It was really a role, much more than selling the fuse in advance.
Wasn't the secret too hard to keep in your everyday life?
Grichka: No! It was part of the contract, and it had to be respected. Igor and I are used to keeping secrets, especially in the scientific world, where certain information should not be disclosed, or at least with great care. Whenever we could, we denied it with a lot of poise.
Did some people recognize you after the first show?
Igor: It's quite curious, but the only person who unmasked us is Cyril Hanouna. The Monday before the first premium, he had said in Touche pas à my post: " For me there is no doubt, I know my Bogda, it is obviously them! I am 100% sure of it" . We will be on his show tonight for a debriefing on this adventure.
Thank you both…
Grichka: Thank you. And I take this interview to recall that the very first public photo that was published of us in 1977, with a caption that was very prophetic " Igor and Grichka: these twins will amaze you ", it was a double page in Télé 7 jours!
