The Transparency International Corruption Perception Index for the year 2021, broadcast this week, places Libya at the lowest scale. It is ranked 172nd on a scale of 180 countries, at the same level as Equatorial Guinea. This international report is revealed at the very moment when the Attorney General of Tripoli ordered to place Ali Zenati, the Libyan Minister of Health and his number two, in pre-trial detention for suspicion of corruption.

Public Health Agency of Canada involved in 'error' on trucker vaccine rules: CP sources

Public Health Agency of Canada involved in 'error' on trucker vaccine rules: CP sources Turmoil and confusion over whether truckers would remain exempt from the vaccine mandate last week stemmed from bureaucrats misinterpreting policy in more than one federal agency — including the one that co-ordinates Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The trucking industry was caught by surprise on Jan. 12 when the Canada Border Services Agency sent a statement to media saying that unvaccinated and partially vaccinated truck drivers crossing into Canada from the United States would remain exempt from the vaccine mandate which was expected to come into force last weekend.

ZENATI is the third Minister of the Government of Dbeibah to be investigated for corruption in the space of 35 days.

On December 20, the Minister of Education had been detained as part of a survey of a general shortage of textbooks in the country. At the end of December, it was the Minister of Culture who had just been placed in pre-trial detention as part of another investigation for corruption and misappropriation of the public funds.

The remand by the Minister of Health and his Deputy Minister is based, according to the Attorney General of Tripoli, on "sufficient evidence of their responsibility in the facts charged".

According to the same source, the Minister of Health and his number two sold oxygen production units, with an increase of up to 1000% of the acquisition price. They also signed contracts directly with companies founded in 2021 and who do not meet the terms of the specifications.

Libyan Prime Minister faces on one side a Parliament wishing to install a new government, on the other, an angry street due to economic and social degradation.

The accusations of corruption for members of the Government of National Union certainly does not stop the affairs of Abdelhamid Dbeibah.
