A toddler has died after falling off a balcony on the 24th floor of a Fairfax County apartment building Monday afternoon. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they are conducting interviews to better understand what led to the child ’s death.

A child died Saturday afternoon in a fall from the balcony or window of a Burnaby apartment high-rise.

Burnaby RCMP have confirmed the death, and are on scene at Timberlea Towers at 3771 Bartlett Court in the Sullivan Heights area. 

The child, a “pre-teen”, according to Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Dale Carr, is believed to have fallen at least 20 floors. 

Investigators are now looking for anyone who may have witnessed the fall, which occurred while a parent was at home, said Carr.
