  Man dead after shooting at Yonge-Dundas Square One man is dead after being shot several times in Yonge-Dundas Square late Wednesday night. Police and paramedics were called to the area shortly after 11 p.m. for reports of gunshots, according to Toronto police Det. Steve Henkel. They found a male suffering from gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a local trauma centre where he died of his injuries, Henkel told CBC video producer Tony Smyth. Officers were at the scene interviewing witnesses and looking for security camera footage from nearby businesses. "Obviously, in the heart of Yonge-Dundas Square, there's a lot of video," Henkel said.

The province’s police watchdog is investigating after one person was killed and a police officer was injured in a shooting in Scarborough early Thursday morning.

Toronto police were called just around midnight in the area of Warden Ave. and Hymus Rd., south of Eglinton Ave. E. following calls of a person with a gun. When police arrived, shots were fired, said police spokesperson Katrina Arrogante.

Paramedics said one person was taken in life-threatening condition to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the police officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

Arrogante said a firearm has been recovered at the scene. She said there is no outstanding suspect at this time.

The intersection is closed for police investigation.

The Special Investigations Unit is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

One man dead, another in life-threatening condition after stabbing in Scarborough .
A man is dead and another man is in life-threatening condition after they were stabbed near a Scarborough bar early Saturday. Both men were found lying on the ground outside a bar on St. Clair Avenue East east of Midland Avenue, according to Toronto police. Police were called to the scene at 2:05 a.m. When they arrived, both men were in life-threatening condition. Paramedics took the men to hospital, one of whom was taken in an emergency run. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. It is not known if the condition of the other man has changed.
