Bill Cosby: 'I didn't settle' defamation lawsuit and 'I'm not paying' but my insurer will Seven Bill Cosby accusers have settled their civil defamation lawsuit against him, but he denies he agreed to it or to pay them, blaming his insurance carrier. The Associated Press reported Friday that filings in federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts, near one of Cosby's homes, show the two sides have negotiated a settlement since Cosby went to prison last fall in a separate criminal case in Pennsylvania. After being convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault last year, Cosby, now 81, is serving a three- to 10-year prison sentence in Pennsylvania while appealing the conviction and sentence.

Justin Bieber is out defending Chris Brown.

The "Sorry" singer took to Instagram to compare Brown to Michael Jackson and Tupac Shakur.

"Everyone wants to wait til people die to give them the credit they deserve. I’m calling it now when CB [Chris Brown] passes away after a long full life, you will miss what you had in front of you the whole time," the Biebs wrote.

Brown has a history of domestic violence, including being arrested for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rhianna.

Comments on Bieber's post were mixed, with some supporting his statement, like J Balvin, where others condemned the words.

"I’ve loved u since I was a KID kid Justin but there is NO justification for beating someone to near death... I’m sorry but it’s true," wrote one user.

Another person wrote, "Most of your fans are girls/women and we are scared to death of men like CB. And to see someone like you stepping up to praise him is very disappointing...It’s really dangerous to praise him regardless of how talented you genuinely think he is. It wasn’t just “one mistake”. It’s just so much more than that."

Recently, Chvrches slammed Marshmello for working with Brown.

“We like and respect Mello as a person but working with people who are predators and abusers enables, excuses and ultimately tacitly endorses that behaviour. That is not something we can or will stand behind," a statement read from the band.

Brown did not respond well, calling the group a "bunch of losers" and ending his rant with "goodday peasants."

Chvrches frontperson Lauren Mayberry even opened up about the death threats she received from Brown fans over the post.
