At the same time, Garner was pregnant with their first child, daughter Violet, who was born on Dec. 1, 2005.
After being married for three years, the couple welcomed their second daughter Seraphina on Jan. 6, 2009.

Affleck thanked Garner during his acceptance speech when "Argo" won the Oscar for best picture. He said, "I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It's good. He said: "All marriages, all relationships to a certain extent, require your work. Nobody's perfect. I would be lying to you if I said that either she or I were."
In 2015, Garner and Affleck said in a joint statement, "After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time." They also said in their statement that this "will be our only comment on this private, family matter."
As the split was cordial, they continued to live together in their Los Angeles home. Reportedly, they have also been on family holidays together with their children.
In a 2016 interview with Glamour magazine, Garner said, "I didn't marry the big fat movie star; I married him. And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He's just a complicated guy. I always say, When his sun shines on you, you feel it.' But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold. He can cast quite a shadow."
The estranged couple have been spotted together at public events after announcing the split, resulting in speculation that they have reconciled. In March 2017, a source had informed Us Weekly magazine that Garner may consider calling off the divorce as their present family equation is working well.

"Reese on the other hand, she might be ... she's definitely pregnant," Garner cracked. "She's having twins!"
