Much of the music industry is coming to Taylor Swift’s defense after she called out super-manager Scooter Braun for allegedly "bullying" her by snatching up the rights to her catalog. ET has reached to Braun for comment.
Taylor Swift calls Scooter Braun's acquisition of her back catalog 'worst case scenario'
Taylor Swift responds to Scooter Braun's acquisition of her catalog
Taylor Swift is not staying silent over the sale of her masters to Scooter Braun . In a scathing Tumblr post Sunday, the pop superstar writes she is sad and grossed out that her music catalog now belongs to Braun , whom she accuses of subjecting her to years of incessant and manipulative
Hall is not holding back after Swift claimed Braun 'bullied' her buy purchasing her former record label. "For those asking, I left Scooter Braun a long time ago I am saddened by this news, but not shocked. He is an evil person who ' s only concern is his wealth and feeding his disgusting ego.
Since her post on Tumblr went up on Sunday, a number of massive artists have sided with the “ME!” singer. Among them is Halsey, who shared a lengthy post explaining why Swift inspired her to write her own music.
"Taylor Swift is a huge reason why I always insisted to write my own music," she wrote on Sunday. "I believed if she did it (in a way that made my teeth ache like cold water and my heart swell and my eyes leak) than I should too."
"She deserves to own the painstaking labor of her heart," the 24-year-old continued. "She has surpassed all expectations of what any artist is capable of. She catapulted her stardom into the Milky Way. And it turns my guts that no matter how much power or success a woman has in this life, you are still susceptible to someone coming along and making you feel powerless out of spite."

"I wish I could give you a big hug right now!" she wrote. "Thank you for speaking out about this and teaching future young artist about protecting themselves. "For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and 'earn' one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, [Big Machine Records CEO] Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums," Swift wrote in her post.
Swift also discussed the "incessant, manipulative bullying" she claims to have received from Braun, who manages Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato, among others.

Justin Bieber, who gained popularity through his YouTube videos in 2007, has had a roller-coaster career so far. He's gone from being the "boy-next-door" to the "bad boy" of pop music to resurface again with stellar hits. Love him or hate him, you just can't ignore him. Click through as we take a look at some of his best and worst moments over the years.
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got secretly married at a courthouse in New York City, New York, U.S. Bieber proposed to Baldwin in the Bahamas in July 2018. They are planning a larger celebration for their wedding by the end of 2019, after postponing it for the third time.
At a 2018 Coachella after-party, the singer came to the rescue of a female festival-goer, when he punched a man in the face for reportedly misbehaving with her. TMZ reported that when the man grabbed the woman by the throat, Bieber and his friends screamed at him to let her go. When he refused to do so, the crooner hit the man in the face and pushed him against a wall, which allowed the woman to break free.
Second most-followed person on Twitter
As of Feb. 27, 2019, with over 105 million followers, he is the second most followed person, and the most popular Canadian, on the social media website.
Banned in China
In July 2017, China banned the pop singer from performing in the country due to his “bad behavior.” In a statement, Beijing’s Culture Bureau said, "Justin Bieber is a gifted singer, but he is also a controversial young foreign singer. We hope that as Justin Bieber matures, he can continue to improve his own words and actions, and truly become a singer beloved by the public.” The statement, however, did not specify exactly when and why Beiber's behavior offended the country.
Angered fans in India by lip-syncing
Bieber’s first ever concert in India, a pit stop for the Purpose tour, was organized in May 2017 and Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium was crammed with over 50,000 people. The much-hyped event turned out to be a huge disappointment as the star lip-synced most of the songs during his gig. Fans lashed out on Twitter, criticizing the singer not only for his performance but also for his outfit. "@justinbieber dude u might be a rockstar , but don't take India for granted! Be a man #fakeconcert," tweeted one fan.
Accidentally hit by Ed Sheeran
In a March 2017 interview with the Guardian, Sheeran revealed he accidentally hit the star with a golf club in Japan. “We’d been out to a dive bar. He just drank water and I got hammered. Then we went to a golf course, and he lay on the floor and put a golf ball in his mouth and told me to hit it out of his mouth. I was like, ‘I need to aim this properly,’ and I swung. And you know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening? I’d cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club,” he said.
Punching a fan
On Nov. 22, 2016, the singer reportedly punched a fan during his Barcelona tour while he was on his way to perform at the Palau Sant Jordi stadium. According to a video posted by TMZ, Bieber rolled his car window down to greet fans when a man ran towards his car and seemingly touched Bieber's face. The singer retaliated by punching him in the face, leaving him with a bloodied lip.
Storms off stage
On Oct. 23, 2016, Bieber walked offstage during a concert in Manchester, England, because his fans wouldn’t stop screaming. He asked the crowd to stop cheering in between songs but when the crowd ignored his request, he dropped his mic and left the stage. According to the BBC, before heading out, the singer said: “I appreciate all the support. I appreciate love. I appreciate the kind things. But the screaming in these breaks has got to stop. Please and thank you.”
After some time he returned and said: “I feel like I wanna connect with you. The point of the no screaming thing is that when I’m looking at you in the eyes you know that we’re actually having a moment and having a connection. I’m not going to talk the rest of the night. We’re just going to do the music. Obviously Manchester just can’t handle it so let’s do the music.”
Big night at the 2016 BRIT Awards
Apart from setting the stage on fire (literally) with his performance, Bieber also won Best International Male Solo Artist award, beating stars like Drake and The Weeknd.
Brought little brother to the 2016 Grammy Awards
Then a 21-year-old, Bieber made the world go “aww” when he brought his adorable six-year-old half-brother Jaxon to the Grammy Awards on Feb. 15.
Creates history on UK singles chart
The young star created history in January 2016 by becoming the first-ever artist to occupy the top three spots on the U.K. singles chart. His tracks “Love Yourself,” “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean?” were placed at number one, two and three, respectively.
2015 VMAs performance
At the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2015, after performing "Where Are U Now" and "What Do You Mean?" Bieber was left overwhelmed and ended up shedding tears on the stage.
Speaking about it on Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show,” he said: "I missed some cues so I was a bit disappointed about that. But just the support. ...I didn’t expect them to support me in the way they did. Last time I was at an awards show, I was booed." He added, "I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line. That’s what’s so special about the emotional moment at the end. It was authentic, it was real. I was really just wanting it so bad.”
Comedy Central Roast
Just days after his 21st birthday, Bieber appeared on the infamous "Comedy Central Roast," which saw a host of celebrities such as Shaquille O’Neal, Martha Stewart and Ludacris hurling abuses at him. The youngest roastee took it all with a calm sense of acceptance.
One of the controversies surrounding Bieber was the Calvin Klein advertisement in which it was alleged the images had been photo-shopped. Bieber responded by posting his shirtless picture on Instagram, with the caption “Photoshop lol.”
Spat with Orlando Bloom
In July 2014, the Mirror reported Bieber was punched by Bloom at a restaurant in Ibiza, Spain. Bieber was rumored to share a friendly relationship with Miranda Kerr, Bloom’s then-estranged wife.
Run-in with the law
Bieber was arrested in Miami in January 2014 for driving under the influence (DUI), with an expired license and for resisting arrest. He was released an hour after an appearance via video link in front of a judge.
The singer’s brushes with the law continued when he was charged for illegally spraying graffiti in Rio de Janeiro in November 2013. According to Brazilian laws, vandalizing public buildings is a crime in the country and a punishable offence. Bieber was charged with “crime against the city order and cultural heritage” but left the country before the authorities could notify him. The case reopened when the singer visited the country in 2017 and was settled after he donated $6,000 to a cancer institute as fine.
Spitting on fans
He hit the rough waters again in July 2013 when he was snapped spitting on his waiting fans from a hotel balcony in Toronto, Canada.
Mop Bucket controversy
The following month, Bieber was caught in another controversy—when he was seen relieving himself into a mop bucket in the back of an unidentified restaurant in NYC. He went on to curse the then-president Bill Clinton, for which he apologized to the president via Twitter.
Bieber invited trouble from an indoor skydiving facility in Las Vegas after reportedly backing out of a payment deal with the company in June 2013. He was slapped with a lifetime ban.
Comments on Anne Frank
When he was touring Amsterdam in April 2013, Bieber created a stir with his comment after visiting Anne Frank’s house. He was quoted as saying, “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
Bieber’s pet, a Capuchin monkey Mally, was seized by German officials in March 2013 after the star failed to provide the required vaccination and import papers.
Arriving late on stage
At his London performance in March 2013, Bieber was heavily booed by the audience for arriving two hours late to the concert. Parents were furious with his attitude as their kids waited for him despite it being a school night.
In January 2013, Bieber was allegedly caught smoking marijuana at a party, a day after a photographer was killed while taking photos of the singer's Ferrari. After the photos surfaced online, he tweeted, "Everyday growing and learning. Trying to be better. U get knocked down. U get up. Back on tour tomorrow. Ready to see you all smile. Time to do what I’m supposed to be doing. Performing #BELIEVEtour. I see all of you. I hear all of you. I never want to let any of you down."
A few days before the marijuana incident, a photographer was killed by a passing car while following the singer’s white Ferrari. Bieber released a statement calling for a change in the law. "While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves," he said.
Vomiting on the first night of his World Tour
Bieber began his World Tour in September 2012 by throwing up on stage, not once but twice. Blaming it on his digestive problems, the Guardian quoted him as saying, “It’s hard for me, you know, not feeling great and throwing up in front of a bunch of people.”
The same year, the singer drew flak from fellow passengers for his use of colorful language on an airplane. He was reportedly asked to “stop yelling curse words and using that kind of language on a plane. It's not appropriate.”
In 2012, an underage Bieber admitted to having a beer, in an interview with GQ.
Taking a paternity test
Following the accusation of an 18-year-old woman named Mariah Yeater, who claimed that Bieber was the father of her four-month-old son, Bieber agreed for a paternity test. The result was in Bieber's favor.
On March 1, 2011, Bieber marked his 17th birthday by lashing out at photographers. His use of abusive language and flipping at the paparazzi didn’t go down well with the media and his fans.
Dating Selena Gomez
Bieber, then 16, gained attention from all quarters when he began a relationship with the Disney star in 2011. They officially split in 2014, but in 2017 the duo reunited. They again parted their ways in 2018.
Still getting used to fame, he sparked controversy in February 2011 during an interview with Rolling Stone after he said he doesn’t believe in abortion.
Presenting Grammy Awards at 16
The teen icon, who was one of the presenters at the 52nd Grammys in 2010, accidentally said Beyoncé’s name instead of Bon Jovi.
Performing at the White House
After being spotted by Scooter Braun at the age of 12, Bieber marked a high point in his emerging career with his performance at the White House for President Barack Obama and the First Lady in 2009.
"Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it," she continued, pointing fans to the included photo, a screenshot of Bieber's video chat with Braun and West, with the caption, "Taylor Swift what up." "Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life's work, that I wasn't given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it." © Tumblr Tumblr
Since Swift's post, a petition has appeared on Change.org, which suggests the singer should rerelease her first six albums under Republic Records, effectively cutting out Braun. The petition already has over 37,000 signatures, supposedly including fellow singer Katy Perry. ET has also reached out to Perry for comment.
Also, Bieber, whose image was used by Swift in her post, has apologized to the singer with his own post, while also admitting he wished she'd taken her grievance with Braun to the manager himself rather than online.
"Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you!" he wrote alongside an old photo of himself with Swift. "As the years have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences, hurts or frustrations. So for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter."
"Anyway, One thing i know is both scooter and i love you. I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication," he added. "So banter back and fourth online i dont believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and i would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or or any feelings that need to be addressed. Neither scooter or i have anything negative to say about you we truly want the best for you. I usually don’t rebuttal things like this but when you try and deface someone i loves character thats crossing a line."

Hey Taylor. First of all i would like to apologize for posting that hurtful instagram post, at the time i thought it was funny but looking back it was distasteful and insensitive.. I have to be honest though it was my caption and post that I screenshoted of scooter and Kanye that said “taylor swift what up” he didnt have anything to do with it and it wasnt even a part of the conversation in all actuality he was the person who told me not to joke like that.. Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you.! As the years have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences, hurts or frustrations. Meanwhile, Grande, another of Braun's clients, has quietly deleted her post congratulating him on acquiring Big Machine Records.
