Lauer responded in an open letter denying the allegations, calling them "categorically false."

On Friday, Farrow appeared on "Good Morning America", defending his reporting and noting the book was "extensively fact-checked."

In the upcoming book, Nevils alleges that Lauer anally raped her in his hotel room at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Farrow added of Nevils, "She says regardless of what happened before and after that, and how he interpreted that, she said no to a physical act.”

Farrow also pushed back on assertions from NBC News chairman Andy Lack that the network was not aware of Lauer's conduct prior to it being reported, or that there was any coverup.

Lauer has denied all allegations against him. The producer's claims were released on Tuesday, via Variety, where Farrow writes about Nevils' initial anonymous complaint about Lauer, which led, in part, to his Today firing in 2017."I want to thank the many survivors who shared their stories with me today and offered their support," Nevils tweeted on Wednesday, following the news. "It takes courage, and I am truly grateful."I want to thank the many survivors who shared their stories with me today and offered their support.

"This is not what the reporting in the book suggests," Farrow explained. "What we show in this book, with a paper trail, with documents, is that there were multiple secret settlements and non-disclosures being struck with women at NBC News."

He noted that many of those settlements were made "years before" the incident alleged by Nevils.

"There were seven non-disclosure agreements, multiple ones of those were with Matt Lauer accusers," he said.

Farrow also discussed his own time working for NBC News, and his account of their pulling the plug on his investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

"They told me and another producer working on this that we should not take a single call, they told us to cancel interviews," Farrow said of NBC News.
