  Abu Dhabi & Israel Film Funds Sign Cooperation Agreement; Plan Regional Film Festival The Abu Dhabi Film Commission has signed a cooperation agreement with the Israel Film Fund and the Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film & Television School to foster film and TV ties in the region. The agenda focuses on four initiatives, which interestingly include plans for a new regional film festival. The Middle East previously had the Dubai International Film Festival, which established itself as a key event for the Arab World’s nascent film biz but last took place in 2017 and is not expected to return.

Bahrain and Israel have agreed to establish formal diplomatic relations, making the small Gulf country the fourth Arab state to normalise ties with Israel and clearing the way for the countries to open embassies and exchange ambassadors in the coming months.

n MANAMA and Bahrain (Reuters) signed Sunday, a joint statement to formalize their diplomatic ties, according to a Reuters journalist, a month after the signing under the aegis of the United States of an agreement to normalize their relations.

Bahrain had agreed last month to follow the decision of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to normalize relations with Israel despite the wave of disapproval it had sparked in parts of the Arab-Muslim world.

Israel had therefore sent a delegation to Bahrain on Sunday led by national security adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat.

She was accompanied by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, whose services said his mission was to "increase economic cooperation" between Israel, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
