One of the many comments I have read about it was "now it's getting tight for Sony". This is nonsense in many ways. I don't expect the balance of power in the pure console business to shift significantly, at least in the medium term.

The new Xbox app for Android and iOS is here. In addition to a fundamentally new design, the most exciting innovation is certainly that it allows game streaming from the console to iPhones and iPads as well as Android smartphones and tablets.

This feature is not to be confused with the game streaming from the cloud, with the new Xbox app the console itself is your "server". Basically it is a remote desktop application, which is also the reason why Apple does not prohibit its customers from console streaming on iOS.

The new app has already been available as a beta on Android for a few weeks, the Xbox team has confirmed the official launch of the new app via Twitter, and it has already arrived here.

Streaming doesn't only work in WLAN at home, but also on the go via the cellular network. A stable and fast connection is of course a basic requirement, this also applies to uploading to the home connection. All games for the Xbox One and later also for the new generation can be streamed, but backwards compatible games for the original Xbox and Xbox 360 do not work. Logically, the game has to be installed on your own Xbox.

You don't have to worry about harassing someone at home when you use the console streaming, the Xbox switches itself on "secretly", so it does not show any status LEDs or emit any sounds. The energy mode "fast start-up" must be activated so that the box can react to the signal. While streaming, the Xbox cannot be used for other purposes, because as I said: technically speaking, it is nothing more than remote access.
