Eine Verfilmung, die vor allem eine Frage aufwirft: Wozu das Ganze?

With “ We Children from Bahnhof Zoo ”, Amazon Prime Video currently has a series in its range that is attracting a lot of attention. No wonder: if it is about blatant issues such as drug excesses and prostitution of minors. Wouldn't it be easy to take advantage of the broad reach of the series and lure the existing audience back to the streaming service with a second season, wouldn't it? But it's not that simple.

It is very unlikely that there will be a season 2 of "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo". The Amazon series is based on the 1978 bestseller of the same name, which in turn reports on the real Christiane F. The team of authors around Annette Hess designed “We children from Bahnhof Zoo” as a mini-series from the start. The story from the book is therefore ended in the series.

How it could go on in season 2 anyway

Even if “We children from Bahnhof Zoo” is actually finished, a sequel would theoretically be conceivable. A possible season 2 could film the real life of Christiane Felscherinow (that's her full name).

The series could, for example, be based on the 2013 autobiography "Christiane F - My Second Life".

What many do not know: The protagonist of "We children from Bahnhof Zoo" had an eventful life through and through even after her youth. She reports on some particularly explosive episodes in her autobiography. Among other things, she tells of the fact that she never returned to the ideal world and switched to cocaine a short time after her famous heroin excesses.

In addition, “Christiane F - My Second Life” is about a trip to Greece, where Germany's most famous drug addict had an intense romantic relationship with a hippie, the long, agonizing struggle for custody of her son, and life with the consequences of her hepatitis C illness, which she contracted through an infected needle.

So there would be material for a sequel, even if Amazon had to dare an experiment here , because it would then no longer be a series for young people that would also have no coherent, chronological plot. We therefore consider it unlikely that “Christiane F - My Second Life” will be filmed as Season 2 of the Amazon series (especially since the series makers have not yet indicated anything in this direction).

Alternatives to the Amazon series

Even if there will be no season 2 of “Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo”, you can at least fall back on a few alternatives. “ Christiane F - We Children from Bahnhof Zoo ”, the popular first film adaptation of the book from 1978, is also running on Amazon Prime Video. There is also a documentary on YouTube from the eighties in which Christiane F. speaks for herself.

Anyone interested in further, well-staged drug-related dramas can of course browse the film and series history for other stories that are well worth seeing. We have already made the effort and put together a list of recommendations. In addition to German drug films, you will also find undisputed masterpieces here that every film fan should have seen anyway, as well as old and new series hits:

Union Station Makes a Promise: Even During the Oscars, the Trains Will Run on Time .
One of the strangest things about the Academy's plan to hold this year's Oscars at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles isn't that they're putting on an awards show in a train station, though that will be a first. Rather, it's that they're planning to put on the show in a transit center that will remain open, without shutting down or seriously affecting the usual operation of that center. That's not the way the Oscars usually work. For the past 19 years, the ceremony has been held at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood & Highland Center – and on the day of the show, the Metro subway stop beneath the center is always shut down.
