Report: DMX Hospitalized After Overdose, Condition Described As ‘Grave’
DMX is reported to be in “grave” condition after suffering an overdose. According to a report from TMZ, the “Party Up (Up In Here)” rapper has been hospitalized in White Plains, New York following a drug overdose on Friday night. Sources close to DMX tell TMZ that the overdose led the 50-year-old rapper to suffer a heart attack. TMZ's report states that DMX is being treated in the critical care unit; while there has reportedly been "some brain activity" detected, a different source claims he's in a "vegetative state." DMX's memorial service was full of important moments but none more than his daughter rapping a song in his honour.
At one point during the Celebration of Life, Earl "DMX" Simmons' 15 kids took to the stage to share memories of their dad. His one young daughter decided to rap a song she wrote for him.
“I’m growing, I’m learning to hold my head, my daddy’s still holding my hand so I gotta stand up,” she sang. "My brothers and sisters, We all stand together, Throw up the X, Daddy forever".
There was not a dry eye in the house.

Artists are sending prayers DMX’s way after the rapper was admitted to a New York hospital following a reported overdose.“DMX prayed over me once and I could feel his anointing. I’m praying for his full recovery,” Chance the Rapper wrote on Twitter Saturday (April 3).

Keeping with safety protocols, only family and friends were invited to the memorial at Barclays Center. Before the ceremony, a procession took place with his red casket being carried by a monster truck that read "Long Live DMX".

DMX died on April 9 at 50 from a heart attack six days earlier.

The life of DMX was celebrated at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, April 24.The memorial, originally scheduled to begin live streaming on DMX’s YouTube channel at 4 p.m. ET, saw delays and actually began some time after 6:30 p.m. The rap star died on April 9 at the age of 50 after suffering a heart attack triggered by a drug overdose. He had spent several days on life support at a New York hospital.
