‘Epic’: James Griffiths To Direct & Exec Produce ABC’s Fairytale Drama Pilot From ‘Once Upon A Time’ Creators

‘Epic’: James Griffiths To Direct & Exec Produce ABC’s Fairytale Drama Pilot From ‘Once Upon A Time’ Creators EXCLUSIVE: Prolific TV pilot director James Griffiths has been tapped to direct and executive produce ABC’s fairytale drama pilot Epic, from Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis and ABC Signature. Shooting is currently underway in Ireland. Epic, starring Brittany O’Grady, is described as a romantic anthology series that reinvents fairy tales for a new audience.

The plot follows four diverse mothers who accidentally kill the queen bee of their school’s PTA during the demonstration of a new high-end food processor. The story becomes a female anthem about friendship and family as it tells the story of one completely unprepared group of women who must juggle their everyday lives while their worlds are turned upside down.

The original series, which was created by Carlos del Hoyo and Abril Zamora, aired on Mediaset-owned Telecinco before segueing to Amazon Prime Video for its second season.

Sherman Barrois, whose The Kings of Napa drama recently scored a series order at OWN, will write and executtive produce.

Rachel Kaplan, who recently launched the Warner Bros-based Absecon Entertainment after six years as head of scripted for Keshet Studios, exec produces alongside Intrigue Entertainment’s Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter as well as Arantxa Écija from Mediaset España Comunicación and Santi Botello from Producciones Mandarina SL, who produced the original.

PM says his office didn't know Vance allegations were about sexual misconduct

PM says his office didn't know Vance allegations were about sexual misconduct Prime Minister Justin Trudeau vigorously defended his top aide on Tuesday, saying that while his office knew there was a complaint against then-defence chief general Jonathan Vance three years ago, no one knew it was about sexual misconduct. The comments came in response to fresh questions about what the prime minister and his chief of staff, Katie Telford, knew about the allegation against Vance in March 2018 following testimony last week from one of Trudeau's former advisers.

It is the latest pilot order at NBC, which last week handed Dan Rubin’s reboot of Night Court, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch and the original series’ co-star John Larroquette, a pilot order.

Last month, it handed two drama pilot orders to Getaway, a wedding island disaster thriller exec produced by The Blacklist duo John Davis and John Fox, and the Untitled Nick Wootton/Jake Coburn Project, a bank heist drama exec produced by Julie Plec.

2021 NBC Pilots & Series Orders

On the comedy side, Demi Lovato’s Hungry and romantic comedy Someone Out There, which was ordered to pilot last year but was rolled due to the pandemic, were given pilot orders.

But NBC is in an unusual situation this pilot season; executive change with the arrival of Susan Rovner meant that it did not make pilot orders until mid-April, and other than Night Court and Hungry others have yet to start casting.
