The Billboard Latin Music Awards are less than a week away. Here’s a list of this year’s first-time finalists.In addition to Daddy Yankee receiving the Billboard Hall of Fame Award, finalists and winners will be honored at the award ceremony to be broadcast live on the Telemundo network at 8 p.m. ET from the Watsco Center in Miami on Thursday, Sept. 23. The coveted event will cover 59 categories across the major music genres of Latin pop, tropical, Latin rhythm and regional Mexican.
Just ahead of officially entering the Billboard Latin Music Awards Hall of Fame,reminded the world why he’s El Jefe at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday (Sept. 24) night in Miami.
Rolling up to the Watsco Center stage in a subway car thanks to some clever visual trickery, Yankee ran through his new single “Métele Al Perreo” from his upcoming album. Oozing effortless cool and charisma as he owned the mid-tempo reggaeton jam, Yankee even stepped onto a platform that was raised high above the crowd at one point. His dancers brought it, too, with twerking, braid whipping and splits to boot.

From Paquita la del Barrio to Daddy Yankee, here are the artists receiving special awards at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Daddy Yankee – The chart-topping, global star — known for reggaeton anthems such as “Gasolina” and “Dura” — has sold more than 17 million albums and placed 84 entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart, with seven of those hitting No. 1 and 36 landing in the top 10. On the Latin Airplay chart, he has logged a total of 73 titles, including 24 No. 1s and 42 top 10s.

After the performance, Yankee accepted the Hall of Fame honor, sharing some of the love by hugging front-row pals Bad Bunny and will.i.am, also in attendance at the awards show.with Billboard VP/Latin Industry Lead Leila Cobo the day prior, DY said he’s “still working on” the album that “Métele Al Perreo” hails from, but “we’re almost at the end.”
