Ducks center Ryan Kesler has career-threatening hip surgery

Ducks center Ryan Kesler has career-threatening hip surgery Anaheim Ducks center Ryan Kesler has undergone successful right hip resurfacing surgery, likely meaning he will not play in 2019-20 — if ever again. Kesler has been dealing with pain for a long time and this surgery will help relieve that and give him some help in his daily life. GM Bob Murray explained the decision to have the procedure: "As we all know, Ryan has been fiercely battling his condition for quite some time. I’ve been extremely impressed by his determination to play despite being significantly injured. At this point, Ryan needs to think about his life and family. The pain he felt was significant and we agree with his decision to have this surgery.

Every single year for at least a decade, a mother duck and her children have been visiting an upstate New York hospital for an annual parade.

The mother uses her beak to tap on a glass door at The University of Rochester Medicine's Thompson Health. Employees let her in, and that begins her march through the facility with her 13 ducklings.

Thompson Health wrote about it on Facebook: “A mama duck chooses one of the enclosed courtyards at our M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center to lay her eggs and take care of her babies...and this morning, it was time for this annual rite of spring."

Kesler unlikely to play in 2019-20, could resume career after hip surgery

Kesler unlikely to play in 2019-20, could resume career after hip surgery Ryan Kesler might not play in 2019-20, but his career may not be over. The Anaheim Ducks center underwent hip resurfacing surgery on Thursday, a procedure that makes continuing his career possible following a lengthy recovery, the club announced on Monday. "While it's unlikely he will play in 2019-20, we will support any decision he makes about his future playing career," Ducks general manager Bob Murray said. In April, Kesler's career appeared in jeopardy when he was mulling hip-replacement surgery. The 34-year-old missed Anaheim's final 14 games of this season and was limited to 60 contests in 2018-19.

The parade seemed to delight those on social media, as well as those at the facility.

“Thumbs up for caring so much!!!! LOVE stories like this!!! Hope it never changes!!!....” one man wrote.

“Tough job, but hey someone has to do it,” said another.

When the ducks are done trotting around the hospital, the family heads out to a park near the facility, which is located near a lake.

According to Ducks.org, migrating birds use visual and non-visual signals to find their way, including the sun, polarized light, the stars and landmarks Some birds like to return to the same place every spring, where food is available in a quiet, peaceful setting.

Nelson isn't the only coach on Anaheim's radar, however. Lane Lambert, Rick Bowness, as well as Todd Nelson, and Dallas Eakins are amongst the candidates in ANA. There may be more.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) May 29, 2019 Anaheim fired Randy Carlyle in February, and general manager Bob Murray replaced him.
