A video posted by police of a homeless woman singing opera in the Los Angeles metro has gone viral and prompted calls for her to be on a grand stage.

"4 million people call LA home," a tweet accompanying the video by the Los Angeles Police Department said. "4 million stories. 4 million voices...sometimes you just have to stop and listen to one, to hear something beautiful."

The video, which has racked up nearly 300,000 views since it was posted late Thursday, shows the blond woman in pigtails singing a beautiful rendition of a Puccini aria as she stands on a metro platform with a cart and several bags.

Elizabeth May was holding disposable cup in photoshopped image, contrary to party's claims

Elizabeth May was holding disposable cup in photoshopped image, contrary to party's claims OTTAWA — Green Party leader Elizabeth May was holding a disposable coffee cup in a photo on the party’s website that was later altered to show her holding a reusable cup with a metal straw, contrary to her party’s earlier claims. A party spokesperson previously told the National Post that May had been holding a reusable cup, and the image had been photoshopped simply to include another reusable cup, one bearing the Green Party logo. At the time, the spokesperson said the party was unable to provide the Post with a copy of the original photo. But the Post has obtained the original photo from internet archives, which shows May holding a single-use, disposable cup.

This place has the best coffee but the waitress had to be a little bit friendly Overall she is oke. The biggest difference between this cup of coffee and one made by a chain coffee shop was the Whole Foods just across the street have a coffee section with plenty of any kind of milk you want gratis.

A police spokeswoman told AFP that the encounter with the officer who shot the video was spontaneous.

KABC said Zamourka has no formal training as an opera singer and had been a teacher before she fell on hard times because of health issues.

"I am sleeping actually on the cardboard right now, in the parking lot," she told KABC. "I am sleeping where I can sleep ... I have people that feel sorry for me, but I don't want to be a burden to anybody."

She added that she would be grateful for help to get off the streets and to have a roof over her head and musical instruments.

Matt Gurney: Elizabeth May's faked cup is a perfect symbol of climate hysteria

Matt Gurney: Elizabeth May's faked cup is a perfect symbol of climate hysteria Alright, look. This isn’t going to be the most profound insight you’ve had into the election or the politics of climate change and carbon reduction. I’ve been sick with a head cold all week so you’re getting heavily medicated Matt here. But there’s a point I want to make about Elizabeth May’s photoshopped coffee cup, and I’ll make up for my limited ambition by keeping it brief. The point, basically, is that this is the most hilarious encapsulation of the (unavoidable!) hypocrisy of climate-change-focused politicians I’ve yet seen.

Black Photo Album. by Mary Jane Black. I have been playing around with a new idea – a client wants me to make some kind of roll-over button for them that looks like a mug of coffee . This entry was posted on March 29, 2011 at 12:26 pm and is filed under Art with tags art , coffee , food, graphics

I want to like this coffee shop. I have visited cup a manna before. My advise make sure the person taking your order understands exactly what you want and be prepared to wait and wait and wait. The art is fantastic and I love the style of the place! The loo leaves a lot to be desired-- not a good thing where coffee is served. Photo of Cuppa Manna - Summerville, SC, United States by Saia D.

"You know why I (sing) in the subway?," she said. "Because it sounds so great."

Several Twitter users have urged that her talent not go to waste and have reached out to "America's Got Talent" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" -- one of America's top talk shows -- to help publicize her story.

Sergeant Hector Guzman, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told the Los Angeles Times that Zamourka's voice had struck a chord with officers.

"It was powerful the first time we saw it, and every time we see it again, it's still powerful," he told the paper, adding that he has watched the video 50 times. "The message for us was simple: Remind ourselves to take a moment to look around and listen."
