News of the deal came shortly after Zunino earned the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year award for catchers.

The 27-year-old backstop led all qualified catchers with 12 defensive runs saved, according to FanGraphs. He only managed to hit .201/.259/.410 in 2018 but did belt 20 home runs. Zunino has two years left on his contract before he's eligible for free agency.

Report: Mariners looking to move Cano, Seager.
The Seattle Mariners have been baseball's busiest team in the offseason trade market and they may not be done. The club is looking to trade infielders Kyle Seager and Robinson Cano in an effort to get their contracts off the books but neither is garnering much interest, a source tells Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports. General manager Jerry Dipoto said in early November the team was considering a "re-imagining" of the roster. The Mariners have alreadydealt catcher Mike Zunino to the Tampa Bay Rays and ace left-hander James Paxton to the New York Yankees, who reportedly also inquired about shortstop Jean Segura. Seager, 31, has $57.
