ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith has used his platform on First Take to make personal jabs at NBA players from time to time. Earlier this season, Smith was especially critical of Rondo for the fight with Chris Paul, and Rondo evidently took notice.

Smith led Thursday's episode of First Take by making a point to publicly call out Rondo for a "disrespectful" comment being directed at him in the Lakers locker room on Wednesday night. Here's video of the segment, captured by The Big Lead.

Smith said:

"As an aside, I just wanted, if you don't mind, I just wanted to deviate away from this particular subject. I wanted to start off the show saying something - when I was in the Lakers locker room last night, Mr. Rondo directed a very disrespectful comment my way. He didn't say it by name. I was standing right next to him. I just kept my head down because out of respect to the Los Angeles Lakers as an organization, I didn't want to make a scene. So, I just left it at that. I just want Rondo to know I know that. Number 1. And Number 2 - I stand by my proclamation that he deserved a 15-game suspension for spitting in the face of Chris Paul. And last but not least, I just want to say out of respect for him, I would remind him … I never said anything about why he left Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Sacramento, it goes on and on. I'll just leave it at that.

Lakers coach Luke Walton, point guard Isaiah Thomas and Pelicans point guard Rajon Rondo had all been ejected by halftime of a 139-117 loss. Thomas grinned in the locker room after the game. At first it was Rondo playing physical defense against Thomas, even striking him in the face at least twice.

"Anytime he wants to have a big man conversation, I'm more than willing to have a conversation because I do respect him."

Wait, what?

When Max Kellerman asked for more details about what was said, Smith said that Rondo called him an "expletive reporter."

During his radio show, Smith once again brought up the comment and called out Rondo.

While Smith could have easily handled this issue in private (and not on national TV and radio broadcasts), Smith obviously felt this was the way to get through to the Lakers point guard.

We'll have to see how Rondo responds.

LeBron 'almost cracked' during Lakers' poor start The Los Angeles Lakers have won three-straight games after an epic finish in their 107-106 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. It's a welcome change from what has been a difficult adjustment for LeBron James, who admits his frustrations nearly got the best of him when the team got off to a 2-5 start. ‪"I haven't changed anything outwardly, but you know me. You know how I am. I almost cracked (last week)," James joked after the Lakers' 101-86 win over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, according to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes. "I had to sit back and remind myself, '(Expletive), you knew what you were getting yourself into. This process has been good for me.

The Lakers ’ locker room is going to be fascinating. The Lakers are jostling their roster, also reportedly renouncing the rights to forward Julius Randle, making him a free agent. With Rondo as a pass-first point guard without much of a shot, he’s a sensible backup to Lonzo Ball, unless he beats

'I want to leave': Whitecaps captain Waston looking for new home.
Fullback Kendall Waston is under contract with the organization but says his agent will work out a deal that will get him out of Vancouver. Waston said he's been loyal to the Whitecaps since joining the club in 2014, but moving on is the best decision for his family. His comments come after Waston publicly disagreed with the dismissal of head coach Carl Robinson in September. On Tuesday, the team's captain said he understands that the move was a business decision, but he "doesn't like two-faced people." He declined to comment on who, specifically, he was referring to.
