Someone bet $85K on Tiger to win Masters

Someone bet $85K on Tiger to win Masters One bettor is apparently feeling very confident that Tiger Woods will take home his fifth green jacket this week. The unidentified person placed an $85,000 wager on Woods to win the 2019 Masters at 14-1 odds, according to The Associated Press. Woods last won the tournament in 2005. The bet, which was made Tuesday at a William Hill sportsbook in Las Vegas, will pay out $1.19 million if Woods wins - the company's largest liability ever for a single golf wager in the United States. William Hill's director of trading, Nick Bogdanovich, told Stephen Hennessey of Golf Digest that he thought the bettor made a mistake at first.

Tiger Woods will be leaving Augusta National on Sunday with more than just the green jacket, as the five-time champion will receive over $2 million for his latest victory.

The total prize pool for this year's event was $11.5 million, with Woods claiming $2,070,000 for his one-stroke victory. It's quite the difference from the first time the 43-year-old won the Masters, as the prize for his 1997 title was $486,000.

Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Xander Schauffele will each net $856,667 for their three-way tie for second, while Jason Day, Tony Finau, Francesco Molinari, and Webb Simpson are $403,938 richer after sharing fifth place.

Masters: Five reasons why Tiger Woods will definitely win this year

Masters: Five reasons why Tiger Woods will definitely win this year Who can touch Tiger when he's wearing mock-turtlenecks? Nobody.

Tiger Woods took home millions of pounds after winning The Masters and claiming his fifth Green Jacket at Augusta. Over two million reasons, in fact. The first major of 2019 is one of the most lucrative on tour because the prize purse is split up between a smaller field than in regular tour events.

Opinion: Tiger Woods completes sports comeback for ages with fifth Masters victory. It was almost unbelievable that it had been less than two years since his alarming DUI mug shot, and a year and a half since he said he couldn’t get off the couch to watch his kids play soccer because of back pain.

Masters win still hasn't sunk in for Tiger.
Nearly two weeks after Tiger Woods defied all odds with his fifth Masters win, the accomplishment still hasn't sunk it for the now 15-time major champion. "It's hard to believe," Tiger said in an interview with GolfTV's Henni Zuel. "I couldn't believe I won the tournament. It really hasn't sunk in." Tiger admits to doing very little since his triumph at Augusta National, mainly spending time at home with his kids and having a couple of dinners with close friends, but he said he reminds himself of the win with a glance at his couch.
