Raptors coach Nick Nurse expects a better game from Kawhi Leonard on Sunday

Raptors coach Nick Nurse expects a better game from Kawhi Leonard on Sunday TORONTO — The Toronto Raptors beat defending champion Golden State in Game 1 despite an off night for superstar Kawhi Leonard. The Warriors threw the kitchen sink of defence at Leonard, who shot just 5-for-14 for 23 points in the Raptors' 118-109 victory. Raptors coach Nick Nurse expects a different game from his star in Game 2 on Sunday. "I'm expecting him to play a lot better tomorrow," Nurse said. Leonard, who missed all but nine games last season with San Antonio because of a quadriceps injury, appeared to be limping at times during Game 1.

The referees utilized a “let em play” attitude when it came to travels during Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night.

Fred VanVleet nailed a 3-pointer to put his Toronto Raptors up 118-105 on the Golden State Warriors with under two minutes left, essentially serving as a dagger. Right before he got the pass, Kawhi Leonard appeared to have landed after jumping with the ball and should have been called for a travel.

ABC’s announcers thought there was a missed call.

That seemed to be the theme of the evening. The refs also missed what looked like a travel by Steph Curry on the preceding play:

Kawhi Leonard likely to choose between Raptors, Clippers.
There are sure to be more than a handful of teams that try to sign Kawhi Leonard when the NBA Finals MVP becomes a free agent this summer, but the sweepstakes may already be down to just two. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on “Get Up” Tuesday morning that the Los Angeles Lakers have very little chance of signing Leonard, both because of their financial situation and because Leonard does not want to be the third guy behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Rather, Wojnarowski notes that Leonard is “focused” on the Clippers, and he will likely choose between them and the Toronto Raptors. "Kawhi Leonard's focus [is] on Los Angeles, but it's the Clippers not the Lakers.
