The Edmonton Oilers have announced that Keith Gretzky will remain with the organization as the club’s assistant GM.

Gretzky took over the team’s front office as the interim GM following the dismissal of Peter Chiarelli during the 2018-19 campaign. The former scout previously served as an assistant GM for the Oilers before moving up to the top job in an interim capacity, joining the organization in 2016-17 following a long stint with the Boston Bruins.

Edmonton Oilers extend AHL coach Jay Woodcroft Though there have been many changes since Ken Holland took over as Edmonton Oilers GM, one won’t be happening behind the minor league bench. The organization announced Wednesday that Jay Woodcroft has signed a three-year extension to remain head coach of the Bakersfield Condors. Woodcroft took the Condors to a level that they had never seen before, setting a franchise record with 42 wins and getting to the Calder Cup playoffs for the first time. The group also completed an incredible 17-game winning streak in early 2019, tying the second longest streak in AHL history.

Keith Edward Gretzky (born February 16, 1967) is a Canadian ice hockey executive and former player who served as interim general manager of the Edmonton Oilers , from January 23 to May 7, 2019. He served in the position until May 7, 2019, when Ken Holland was appointed GM .[7].

He was replaced by Ken Holland in early May, when it was announced that the longtime Detroit Red Wings executive would take the reins as the Oilers’ GM and president of hockey operations.

The Oilers made a few more front office moves on Monday, promoting CEO and vice chair Bob Nicholson to chairman and announcing the hiring of former Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs executive Tom Anselmi as president, business operations and chief operating officer.

The clock is rapidly ticking toward midnight on Jesse Puljujarvi's time with the Edmonton Oilers.
Don’t expect Jesse Puljujarvi to still be with the Oilers by July 1 st . The player and agent have made it clear that they would prefer to move on from Edmonton. That’s despite there being a new Head Coach and General Manager in place that would appear to offer to young Finn a fresh start. So, Ken Holland has been taking calls from other G.M.’s. A considerable number of them. A bunch, in fact. And as it turns out, I am told that that there is considerable interest in the struggling prospect. To these other General Managers Puljujarvi is far from a sure thing. But what he does have is the potential to make a budget-wise roll of the dice worth the risk.
